my Origin story...
Hey, I’m Matthew, though most people call me Mart. My love for design started young, cutting out snowboard magazines and sketching logos in my bedroom. What began as a passion for boards and branding turned into a career in graphic design.
Born and raised in a small town in Ontario, I flew across the country and found the place I now call home, Kamloops. I attended Thompson Rivers University, graduating from their Digital Art and Design program in 2012. I then spent nearly a decade working in sign shops, promotional companies, and with design teams, learning how to make ideas work both on-screen and in the real world.
In 2023, I left the 9-to-5 grind and took a leap of faith to launch MH Design Co. Now I get to work one-on-one with clients to help their brands build strong identities, guide new ones in finding their voice, and bring ideas to life.
Design for me has always been about balance: creativity and strategy, work and play. Whether it’s a client project, a brand concept, or something I’d wear myself, I aim to create designs that connect and leave an impact.
